Tepoztlán

Tepoztlan, Morelos, is a traditional Mexican village, nestled in the majestic mountains of the “Tepozteco” national park, only 40 minutes from Mexico City and 20 minutes from Cuernavca. The town sprawls along the mountain range, providing panoramic views throughout. The unique landscape and rock formations together with the huge variation in altitude, ranging from 3000m-1,010m (9842ft-3313ft) above see level result in multiple micro-climate and mini-ecosystems, and a large diversity of regional flora and fauna. 

The pre-hispanic tradition of village “barrios” or neighborhoods, the picturesque town, cobblestone streets, archeological ruins, the XVI century convent and church, museums, traditional Mexican Market, crafts marks and many esoteric shops has earned Tepoztlan the highly sought after designation of “magical town.” This recognition, was made by the Mexican department of tourism, in-order to help preserve Tepoztlan’s unique heritage and tradition qualify the village with financial and cultural support. 

Visitors to Tepoztlan are transported to old Mexico and it’s traditions with one of nature’s  most impressive mountain ranges as a backdrop. In Tepoztlan, there is something for everyone, a treck up the mountain to visit the pyramid, a range of ecotourism including mountain biking, first class restaurants, typical regional cuisine and frequent traditional Mexican parades and town celebrations. 

The Tepoztlan population is a mix of it’s original inhabitants and a large variety of Mexican and foreigners who share the love of nature, artistic creation and Mexican traditions. 

Tepoztlan’s has a booming real estate market. Typically homes are designed in a traditional Mexican style, using local materials, such as volcanic rock and adobe stone.
